There was a huge rise of Socialism in Europe as the governments of many European countries experimented with it. Due to the economic depressions that followed the war while countries were under capitalism, people turned toward more extreme views as a way to escape the crisis they were in. This led to the rise of socialism on the global stage.
Treaty of Versailles (June 28, 1919)
Article 27
"The boundaries of Germany will be determined as follows:
1. With Belgium: From the point common to the three frontiers of Belgium, Holland and Germany and in a southerly direction: the north-eastern boundary of the former territory of neutral Moresnet, then the eastern boundary of the Kreis of Eupen, then the frontier between Belgium and the Kreis of Montjoie, then the north-eastern and eastern boundary of the Kreis of Malmedy to its junction with the frontier of Luxemburg..."

- The loss of the war for Germany led to a large decrease in the size of the German Empire due to the Treaty of Versailles. Germany became a much smaller country with a lot less power in the world because of this.
